GreenTechNA Consulting Inc. (commonly referred to as GreenTechNA) was founded in August 2024 and officially launched as a Sole Proprietorship company in early September 2024. Due to a high demand for our expertise and broad range of services, GreenTechNA was incorporated in British Columbia end of February 2025. As such, GreenTechNA is strongly positioned to take on more projects and assignments and to enter into more, larger and long-term partnership across Canada, the USA, Europe.
GreenTechNA leverages over 16 years of hands-on experience, expertise, and best practices from North America and Denmark/Europe in renewable energy production, low-carbon district energy, and energy-efficient sector coupling. Our vision is simple yet impactful: to get things done! We strive to create significant value for our clients, partners, and the broader market, accelerating the green transition by offering a diverse portfolio of services.

Niels Vilstrup
Founder and President
Niels Vilstrup is a Danish renewable energy expert with over 16 years of international experience in district energy, renewable energy, low-carbon solutions, and project development. As the Founder and President of GreenTechNA Consulting Inc., he focuses on driving advancements in renewable energy production, low-carbon district energy systems, and sector coupling across North America and Europe. Niels holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Energy Construction and Thermodynamics.
Previously, Niels served as Deputy Director at Lonsdale Energy Corporation in North Vancouver, where he led significant renewable energy projects, developed carbon-neutral strategies, and provided strategic advice to city leadership. Prior to that, he was the Head of the Danish District Energy Advisory (DDEA) in North America at the Royal Danish Embassy in Washington D.C., where, in five years, he facilitated over $2 million in district energy export initiatives and projects, and built strong partnerships with developers, universities, municipalities, and public institutions.
Earlier in his career, Niels worked in the Danish consultancy sector for several years, which included being stationed in Doha, Qatar, as the design manager for a large district cooling system for a major metro line. Prior to that, he gained extensive experience as a project manager and design engineer on various waste heat recovery power plant projects. These projects successfully utilized waste heat from cement plants and large-scale diesel engine power plants to generate electricity across the globe.
Niels’ expertise spans Europe, North America, The Middle East and Asia, where he has successfully led and managed the implementation of innovative energy systems, fostered stakeholder collaborations, and championed clean energy transitions.
Interests:
Niels has played piano and sung since he was a child and have performed with several bands and choirs since he was 18 – latest when living in Washington D.C. A highlights as musician was performing in 1991 as part of the American music and show group “Up With People” on the greenfield at the Super Bowl XXV pregame in Tampa, Florida, together with “The Temptations”.
Niels love outdoor activities such as hiking, running, mountain biking, camping, kayaking, and skiing, and he prioritize socializing with family and friends and engaging in the local community he live in. He have a passion for traveling and exploring new places locally and abroad.
